What does a bug detector actually find?
Direct answer: A consumer RF detector finds some live radio. It misses a camera that is off, a tracker asleep, and a wired unit with no transmitter. Pair RF with a lens finder.
People say “bug detector” when they mean three different jobs. An RF wand alerts to some live Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, or other radio. It will not see a camera that is powered off. It will miss a tracker in deep sleep. It will miss a wired unit that is not transmitting.
A lens finder is a different tool: it helps you spot camera glass even when the camera is off. On the floor we match the tool to the objective — and we tell you what the tool will not do. That comparison is the consult. The fee is credited if you buy the recommended ISS equipment the same day.
A team TSCM visit is not a consumer wand. That is booked and quoted at 555 Beach Street for a space you own or are authorized to have inspected. See Bug sweep / TSCM. Lawful use only. Not legal advice.
